I visited the teams at the Welland Vale Road and Occupation Road Co-op stores in Corby recently to hear more about their concerns around the appalling violence and criminal behaviour too often directed towards retail workers. I was saddened to hear of their experiences and the frequency of such attacks, as well as the impacts of thefts, and will be contacting Northamptonshire's Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner, to understand what more can be done locally to support stores, building on the important national announcements and law changes we have made to ensure that it is easier to bring to justice those responsible - some of which I delivered as a Minister, and which are outlined at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/47x2ss24.
Our retail staff locally are enormously valued and I know we are all appalled that they should ever encounter such behaviour during their daily work, which is of benefit to all of us.
